Peter A. Marotte, 76, of Morris Plains, N.J., formerly of Staten Island, N.Y., passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on December 12, 2017. In 1962, Pete enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and proudly served his country for four years. He completed his tour of duty in 1966. Upon returning from the Marines, he began his career as a jet mechanic for Pan American Airways. Pete was a loyal employee for Pan Am for the next twenty six years ending his career there as a supervisor for the Pan Am shuttle. Pete then began his next endeavor as an Aviation Safety Inspector for the Federal Aviation Administration. He proudly worked for the FAA for the next twenty six years, before retiring in 2013. Pete had a passion for aviation and was very proud of his contributions to this industry for over fifty years. To his family and friends, Pete was fun loving and always enjoyed a good practical joke. He had a genuine love for dogs and will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
Pete was the beloved husband of Sandra Marotte (Marchisa) for fifty one years and the devoted father of Rosemarie Hill, her husband Chris, and Michelle Behrens. Pete was also a loving and proud grandfather to Nicole, Stephanie and Peter. Pete was pre-deceased by his parents Angelo and Rose Marotte, and his siblings; Anthony Marotte, his wife Virginia, Victoria Marotte, Eleanor Garzone and her husband Eugene.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday December 15th, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Leonardis Memorial Home 210 Ridgedale Ave. Florham Park, N.J. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday December 16th, 2017 assembling at 9:00am with mass to follow at 9:45am at St. Rose of Lima Church in East Hanover N.J. Interment at Moravian Cemetery on Staten Island, N.Y.
