Gaetano “Guy” Muoio
Construction Firm Owner, Volunteer, Author, Loving Husband and Father of 5 Children

Guy Muoio, 85, of Mantoloking, NJ entered into eternal rest on November 20, 2015 surrounded by his loving family.  

Guy was born in New York City, raised in Staten Island and graduated from City College of New York in 1952.  Along with his wife, Mary, Mr. Muoio founded GUYMAR Construction Company in Livingston in 1975.  Along with the location of his business, Livingston was his home for 45 years until moving to Mantoloking in 2003.

Mr. Muoio served in the Korean War and was involved with the Nike Missile Program during its infancy at the White Sands Proving Grounds, New Mexico.  

During his many years running GUYMAR Construction Company, Mr. Muoio was very active in the promotion of professionalism and improving the reputation of the home remodeling industry.  He was National President of the “National Association of the Remodeling Industry” (NARI), which is the leading non-profit trade association in the field.  As President and Board Member for 10 years, Guy traveled extensively to the 75 chapters throughout the country.  He loved travel and took multiple trips with his wife and five children.

Guy was Board President of the West Essex Rehabilitation Center, Montclair and very active for several years in promoting the cause of disabled citizens.  

Guy has been a member of the Livingston Chapter of the Knights of Columbus from 1955 to the present.   Guy was President of the Holy Name Society at Sacred Heart Church in Bay Head, NJ.  

In 2010, Mr. Muoio authored a book chronicling 100 years of his Italian immigrant family and their work together on the family farm in Staten Island.  

Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Mary A. (Burns) Muoio, three sons and their wives, William and Mary Jo, Thomas and Courtney, Kevin and Sarah, and Guy’s two daughters, Marianne Weber and her husband Douglas and Kathleen Muoio.    Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and one grandson-in-law and great-granddaughter.   He also leaves a brother Anthony Muoio, a sister, Ellen Zoda, and many nieces and nephews.    

Visitation at the Leonardis Memorial Home, 210 Ridgedale Ave., Florham Park on Monday from 4-8pm.  Funeral on Tuesday assembling at 9:30am followed by a mass at St. Philomena’s Church in Livingston at 10:30am.  Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.
