Winifred Marcelle Blue (Crawford), 93, of East Hanover, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2024.
Winifred was known as Winnie and lived in East Hanover on Homestead Avenue since 1972 with her husband Anthony Blue, affectionately known as Andy Blue. Winnie was very active in the community both at St. Rose of Lima Church and with the senior citizens. After graduating from Montclair State College in 1985 with a Bachelors degree in accounting, Winnie worked as an employee for Newark Auto in West Orange, Susie Dress Company, Popular Club Plan, and J Crewe. Upon retirement from J Crewe Company in 1997, Winnie and Andy traveled cross country in their recreational camper to see the sites. She actively enjoyed working as treasurer and vice president of the East Hanover Senior Citizens. She also served as vice president of the Rosary Society at St Rose of Lima parish. Winnie was a devout Catholic and dedicated Rosarian. She loved the people and town of East Hanover where she lived for over 40 years.
Winnie was a devoted mother of Michael Blue, Elaine Russo and her husband Henry, Susan Porter and her husband Kenneth. She was also the cherished grandmother of Jamie, Eric, Gary and Kimberly, Cherlyn, Diane and David, In addition, she was the proud great-grandmother of Averi, Shane, Brianne, Gavin, Suri, Garin, Rocky and Raea Blue. She is the dear sister of Kathleen Hellyer, Teddy Lee Szabo and Lorelie MacDonald and predeceased siblings: Rita Joreen Robertson (sister), Walter Michael Garis (brother), Juanita Davis (sister), and Cora Imhoff (sister). Winnie is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In 2017, Winnie sadly lost her husband, Andy (Anthony), of 69 years to Alzheimers disease after caring for him for 14 years.
Visitation at the Leonardis Memorial Home, Inc., 210 Ridgedale Avenue, Florham Park on Sunday from 1-4pm. Funeral on Monday, assembling at the funeral home at 9am, followed by the funeral mass at St. Vincent Martyr Church in Madison at 10am. Entombment at Gates of Heaven Cemetery in E. Hanover.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Winifred’s name to Shriner’s Hospital for Children, Tunnel to Towers, or Wounded Warriors as she had much admiration for veterans.
