Warren Mauzy Obituary

Warren L. Mauzy, 95, of Florham Park, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Warren was born in Rushville, IN on August 1, 1930.  His father worked for Indiana Power and Light and his mother was a homemaker.  Warren grew up in Rushville and graduated from Rushville High.    

Warren attended Purdue University.  He was in the Army ROTC program and upon graduating from the Purdue School of Science, he was commissioned 2dLt, Cml, ORC in the Army.  Warren met the love of his life, Shirley, while attending Purdue, as she also enrolled in the School of Science.  Warren and Shirley were married in 1953 and moved to Frederick, MD.  Warren was stationed at Ft. Detrick and was employed as a Bacteriologist.  He worked at Ft. Detrick until he was discharged from the Army in 1965. 

Warren and his family lived in Frederick until 1970.  During those years, Warren owned and operated a service station and foreign car repair shop.  About the same time, he was also employed by American Oil Company where he managed an oil bulk plant and delivered fuel oil to customers in and around Frederick County.  One of Warren's big accounts was Camp David. He made regular oil deliveries there.    

In 1969, Warren was offered a position at Pavelle Laboratories Inc. in New Jersey.  He was employed as a Product Quality Manager involving photofinishing supplies.  He worked for Pavelle for several years.  Warren was also employed by Ilford Photo in Paramus as Manager of Environment Science and Technology.  He continued his career at Ilford until he retired in 1995.             

Warren was a longtime volunteer for Habitat for Humanity in Morris County.  He volunteered there until he was 94 years old.  Warren was an active member of Calvary Presbyterian Church in Florham Park for 55 years.  He served as a deacon, was on the session and other church committees.  Warren was also involved in many mission projects at Calvary.

Devoted father of Emily M. Palmieri, her husband Mark, Alice-Ann Hoffman and her fiancé John.  Cherished grandfather of Timothy Varro, his partner Ivanka, Kyle Hoffman, his wife Anastasia, Justine Snyder and her husband Brent.  Warren was also survived by 4 great-grandchildren, his sister-in-law Marilyn Mauzy, a loving niece, two nephews, cousins and many friends.

A memorial visitation will be held at the Leonardis Memorial Home, Inc., 210 Ridgedale Avenue, Florham Park on Saturday, August 9th from 10am – 12pm, immediately followed by a prayer service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Warren’s name to: Habitat for Humanity, Hanover Wind Symphany or Calvary Presbyterian Church in Florham Park.
