It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Timothy Roger Jensen on August 11, 2023.
Tim was born to Roger and Lillian (Ramsland) Jensen on May 25, 1947. He grew up in Staten Island, New York, in a loving family with his brother Peter, and his sisters Kathy and Laurie.
Tim earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Pace University and the Florida Institute of Technology, majoring in business and marketing. He especially enjoyed science and math throughout his life.
Tim met his soulmate, the love of his life, Joan "Cookie" (Gialanella) Jensen. They were married and moved to East Hanover, New Jersey. The happy couple celebrated their 45th Wedding Anniversary this summer!
Tim served in the U.S. Coast Guard on active duty during the Vietnam era. Then he proudly served in the Coast Guard Reserves for almost 35 years.
Tim qualified to be laid to rest with military honors in the Brigadier-General Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
Tim started out working in sales, but he moved on to work in Procurement at Picatinny Arsenal for over 30 years, where he become a Contracting Officer, writing up million dollar government contacts.
In his free time, Tim enjoyed spending time with his beloved wife, his precious children and their families, his adorable grandchildren, and his many dear friends.
Tim was an active member of the East Hanover Seniors, where he served as Vice-President.
Tim loved to talk, and he loved conversing on any and all subjects. Tim had the ability to make everyone feel cared for, comfortable and at ease.
His kind, gentle and easy-going personality drew people to him. To know Tim, was to love him.
During his life, Tim enjoyed playing golf, was a tennis champ, and was a proficient skier, even on the expert trails.
Up until his passing, Tim kept his playful sense of humor, even joking with the doctors and nurses in the hospital. He loved to laugh, and to make people smile.
Above all, Tim loved the Lord, and hoped that his life reflected the love of God to others.
He definitely achieved that goal!
After his love of God, came his love for his family. Tim's wife, children and grandchildren were the light of his life.
The memories they made together are ones they will remember forever.
We are grateful to God that Tim lived an almost normal life for these past five years, despite undergoing three days of chemotherapy infusions every other week for his Stage 4 metastasized Colon Cancer. Tim battled the side effects valiantly and never complained.
Although Tim's passing brings us sorrow, we take comfort in knowing that he is now free of pain. We believe that Tim is resting in peace in paradise with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, with whom he had a personal relationship.
Now we look to those Tim leaves behind to carry on his memory. His survivors include his wife, Dr. Joan "Cookie" Jensen; his son, Jared Jensen and his wife Heather; his daughter, Cheryssa Smith and her husband Crawford; his grandchildren, Phineas "Finn" Jensen, Samuel Timothy Jensen, Chelsea Joan Smith, Cian George Smith, and his aunts, uncles, cousins and many close friends, who will remember him fondly.
A public memorial visitation for Tim will take place on Thursday, August 17th, from 4:00 to 7:00PM at the Leonardis Memorial Home in Florham Park.
A Memorial Funeral Mass of Remembrance will be held the following day, on Friday, August 18th, 11:15AM at St. Rose of Lima Church in East Hanover, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation towards a cure for colon cancer, or towards the cancer research of your choice.
All are welcome to come and celebrate Tim’s life. Please leave a condolence, light a candle, and share a favorite memory to celebrate the well-lived life of Timothy Roger Jensen.
We love you, Tim!
