Theresa A Zito-Maixner

Theresa A. Zito-Maixner, 69, of Whippany, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2023.

Born and raised in Newark, NJ, Theresa raised her children in Whippany, NJ since 1987. During her life, Theresa was passionate and driven towards caring for others during her career as an adult Nurse Practitioner and left an indelible impact on all of those that she met. She loved taking care of the less fortunate, the homeless and migrants. Theresa also helped create a mobile outreach program to better serve those populations.

Beloved wife of Andy Heard.  Devoted mother of Ashlee T. Maixner and Vincent J. Maixner.  Also survived by her nieces, nephew and cousins, her dogs Tootsie, Gunther, Greta and Lola, and Penelope the Pig. 

Theresa was pre-deceased by her parents Joseph and Theresa Zito, her brother’s Anthony and Vincent Zito, and her husband Dennis F. Maixner.

Visitation at the Leonardis Memorial Home, Inc., 210 Ridgedale Avenue, Florham Park on Sunday from 1-4pm.  Funeral on Monday, assembling at the funeral home at 9:30am, followed by the funeral mass at Our Lady of Mercy Chapel in Whippany at 10:30am.  Entombment at Restland Memorial Park in E. Hanover.
