Suzanne C. DiLauri Obituary

Suzanne C. DiLauri, 78, of Florham Park, passed away on July 11, 2023 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Devoted mother of Mark DiLauri, his wife Heather, Robin DiLauri and her husband Tommy.  Cherished grandmother of Michael and Joseph Filippone and Thomas and Christina DiLauri.  Dear sister of Edward Hill and Glenn Hill.  Suzanne was also survived by Linda Rempfer who was like a dear sister to her, her loving niece, many loving nephews, her brothers and sisters-in-laws who remained family forever and her precious devoted dog Rosie.

Suzanne was pre-deceased by Gennaro “Jerry” DiLauri, her parents Edward and Norma Hill, and her dear friend, Kay DiLauri.

Selfless is the best word to describe Suzanne.   She didn't know any other way.  A quiet fighter until the very end, battling cancer six times.  Yet all she did was worry about everyone else.  A nurse for 40 years at Overlook Hospital, she made such an impact on the young nurses and patients, respectively.   In her "spare" time, she loved to shop, and she was a professional shopper indeed!   Nothing meant more to her than her children and grandchildren.  She fought for them until the very end.    There was nothing but pure love.  Her laugh was contagious, her strength was immeasurable, her love can never be duplicated.  She was one of a kind and there will never be another "Ema".   Little did she know that when her first grandchild, Michael, couldn't pronounce the word "Grandma" that the name he called her was "Ema" and that means "Mother."  Her life began again when he was born and she went on to Bless Joey, Thomas, and Christina with her abounding love.  Truly a love beyond words. Although too soon, "Ema" passed away surrounded by all the love fit for the most beautiful farewell.

A memorial visitation will be held at the Leonardis Memorial Home, Inc., 210 Ridgedale Avenue, Florham Park on Tuesday from 4-7pm.  The funeral will be on Wednesday, assembling at the funeral home at 10:15am, followed by the committal service conducted by her dear nephew Matthew DiLauri at Restland Memorial Park Chapel in East Hanover at 11am, immediately followed by the inurment at the Restland Mausoleum.  A repast will follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Suzanne’s name to the Smile Train Organization by visiting: smiletrain.org. Her grandson Joey was born with a cleft palate and she always wanted to make sure others could have the blessing of the doctors who could repair the life of a child.
