Santo Canzonieri Obituary

Santo Canzonieri, 88, of Florham Park, passed away on December 30, 2023.

Santo was born in Alia, Sicily to very humble beginnings during the war era. He started working full-time at only 11 years old, looking for the trade that was the right fit for him. He began cabinet making and established himself as a “master of his trade” before immigrating to America and leaving most of his family behind. He came to America with only his mother, Antonia and 20 cents in his pocket. He worked various jobs in the carpentry business and slowly made a name for himself. Through hard work and determination his hard work paid off, and he and his partner started a successful business, North Jersey Mica. Making custom kitchens and eventually moving onto major work for banks and hospitals and specialty woodworking. He loved telling his family these stories of how he turned nothing into a thriving business, instilling that hard work is the best way to achieve your goals. After retiring at the age of 55, Santo and Donata would spend extended summers in his hometown of Alia where he was now able to enjoy himself and be proud of all he had accomplished since he first left.  His greatest joys in life were his grandchildren and his great grandchild.

Devoted father of Salvatore Canzonieri, Maria DePasquale, her husband Robert, Joseph Canzonieri, his wife Dianne, Donato Canzonieri, Anthony Canzonieri and his wife Stacy.  Cherished grandfather of Sophia, Christina, her husband Frankie, and Danielle, Matthew, Megan and James, Gabrielle, Gianna and Mia, Julianna, Jaime and Olivia.  Proud great-grandfather of Valentina.  Dear brother of Maria Bove.  Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Santo was pre-deceased by his wife Donata “Dina” Canzonieri of 61 years, his parents Salvatore and Antonia Canzonieri, his sister Rosalia LoIacono and her husband Enzo, and brother-in-law Vincent Bove.
