Rose Smith Obituary

Mrs. Rose Smith (nee Rannelli) of Fort Myers, Florida went to be with the Lord on August 30, 2021.  She was the daughter of Giuseppe and Lucia (Iatesta) Rannelli and was married to her beloved husband William S. Smith for close to 63 years.  William went to be with the Lord in June of 2011.  Rose is survived by her two sons and their wives, Timothy and Laurie Smith of Brick, NJ and Andrew and Efrilyn Smith, of Fort Myers NJ.  She was the beloved Grandmother to Marianne Allan, Timothy Jr., Jonathan, Lauren, and Christian. Great-grandmother to Ava.  She is survived by her sister Ruth (Rannelli) Brescia and her husband James of Boynton Beach, FL, as well as a niece and nephews.

Rose was born in Orange, NJ, in 1927 and moved to Cedar Grove, NJ in 1965.  Her and her husband William lived there raising 2 sons.  She remained in Cedar Grove after his home call in 2011 with her son, daughter-in-law and grandchild until their recent relocation to Fort Myers Florida in March of 2021.

Rose worked in Retail through with countless companies beginning at S. Klein in Newark, Korvettes, Newberry’s. Orbachs, and lastly Bradlees up until their closure when she retired at 71. During those years, she took a hiatus to raise her 2 sons, until they were in high school at which time she went back to work.

She could always be found with family, or her extended family at the Orange, E. Orange and later Livingston Gospel Hall.  While in her younger years, she was a Sunday School teacher to many of the children.  She could always be found at the meeting up until the pandemic closures.

Everyone who met and even spoke with her were always encouraged, made to laugh and would walk away with her smile.  She set a high-water mark for her family and anyone who encountered her to live as she did in every aspect of her life, hospitality to others and faithfulness to the Lord and His people.  She will be sorely missed by her family, who patiently wait for that blessed reunion in Glory with her and their Savior.

Visitation at the Livingston Gospel Hall on Friday from 9:30-10:30am, immediately followed by the service.  Entombment to follow at Restland Memorial Park in East Hanover approximately at 12:15pm.  For those unable to attend, a zoom will be available by clicking on this link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/88092048063?pwd=VVpYVnZtcyswT2J6VEsxZ1dldjl5UT09
