Robert Racioppi Obituary

Robert Vito Racioppi, 80, of Denville, N.J., passed away on March 28, 2020. Robert was born in the
Vailsburg section of Newark, NJ, raised in Irvington. He later moved with his wife Eileen to start and
raise a family in Maplewood. Robert proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during peaceful times.
He spent most of his career as a self-employed General Contractor, and after he retired, worked part time
for the Maplewood Police Department. He was an avid member of the American Legion in Millburn, as
well as Denville, Post 390.
Robert was a devoted and loving husband, tenderhearted father and grandfather. His greatest treasures in
life were definitely his grandchildren. He was the biggest cheerleader at all of the recitals, shows, baseball
games and softball games. He played a major role in raising and caring for all of them.
Robert was quite a character, he loved life. He was often quoted, “Don’t sweat the small stuff”, and he
never did. He spent his later years living in Denville with his family, enjoying Indian Lake. He was the
neighborhood guardian of Fernwood Trail, along with Bonzo, the family German shepherd. While sitting
outside, he put a smile on everybody’s face who passed by with funny conversations, or just a kind wave,
while basking in the sun. He was a devoted Yankee fan, loved playing and watching golf, and rooted for
every football team, but favored the Giants.
Predeceased by his parents (Americo and Anne) and wife (Eileen), he is survived by his loving children
Robert Racioppi (wife, Stephanie), Eileen Racioppi (boyfriend, Robert), and Patricia Rogers (husband,
Andrew); adored grandchildren Alexa, Michael, Corinne, Kate, Mitchell and Owen and caring brother,
Ronald Racioppi (wife, Maryann).
Due to the current restrictions, there will be Memorial Celebration of Robert’s life at a later
