Rita M Politi

Rita M. Politi (Cerra), 93, of East Hanover, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family on December 25, 2022.

For more than 40 years, Rita Politi was an officer and member of the St. Rose of Lima Rosary Altar Society, caring for altar linens, hand sewing baptismal cloths, making pizza for the school children, and singing in the Church choir, an active volunteer with the Friends of East Hanover, a non-profit organization that helps special needs children and adults in the East Hanover community, a volunteer of the East Hanover Recreation Commission, delivered meals-on-wheels, served on the Hanover Park High School scholarship committee, and participated in the DARE program.

Beloved wife of 69 years to the late Ralph J. Politi, Sr.  Devoted mother of Mary Tracy, Karen Hartman, her husband Chris, Donna Zarelli, her husband Mike, Debbie Davis, her husband Ron, Rachel Chirumbolo, her husband Rich, Susan Wecksler, her husband Brian, the late Ralph Politi, Jr his wife Rosemarie, Rita DeMartinis, her husband Dan, and James Politi.  Cherished grandmother of 22 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.  Dear sister of James Cerra and his wife Linda.  Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. 

Visitation at the Leonardis Memorial Home, Inc., 210 Ridgedale Avenue, Florham Park on Wednesday, December 28th from 4-8pm.  The funeral mass will be held on Thursday at St. Rose of Lima Church in East Hanover on Thursday, December 29th at 10am, immediately followed by the interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
