Richard Joseph Himics, 83, of Florham Park, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family on September 9, 2022.
Richard received a B.S. in Chemistry cum laudefrom Iona University; a Ph. D. in organic Chemistry from Cornell University; and an M.B.A. in Management magna cum laude from Fairleigh Dickenson University.
Richard started his career a Rohm and Haas Company as Senior Chemist. He advanced to Senior Chemist/Group Leader at Sun Chemical Corp. He continued his career at the David Sarnoff Research Center, RCA Corp., as a Member of the technical staff where he obtained 12 patents in various technologies including advanced Video Disc and electron beam fabrication. As Manager, Research and Development at Polymer Industries he developed new projects including laminating and pressure-sensitive adhesives. Richard was hired as Vice President, Diversification, at Daniel Products Company, Inc., and shortly thereafter was promoted to President/CEO where he diversified the Company into international markets and grew the company from $8 million to $29 million in sales.
Beloved husband of 54 years to Diane J. (Johnson) Himics. Devoted father of Robert James Himics and Richard John Himics. Cherished grandfather of John and Katherine. Dear brother of Arlene Brady. Loving uncle of John Brady, III. Also survived by many cousins and friends.
Richard was pre-deceased by his parents Rudolph and Anna Himics and his brother-in-law John Brady, Jr.
Visitation at the Leonardis Memorial Home, Inc., 210 Ridgedale Avenue, Florham Park on Tuesday from 4-7pm. Funeral on Wednesday assembling at the funeral home at 8:30amfollowed by the funeral mass at Holy Family Church in Florham Park at 9:30am.
