Raymond Magnussen, 76, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2024.
Raymond Magnussen, native New Yorker settled in to New Jersey after meeting and marrying his wife Phyllis “Cookie” Magnussen. He soon joined the military and served in the Air Force oversees. Ray, as he was known was also a lifelong musician and lover of classic R&B. Ray played guitar and keyboard in many bands, including his last band The Two Tones. Ray devoted many years to working with the family oil business, Dawn Fuel and then committing many years to working for The Elizabeth Board of Education. He was dedicated to serving his country, community and family.
Devoted father of Dawn DePaul, her husband George, Raymond Magnussen, Jr., Marlene Mascolo and her husband Vincenzo. Cherished grandfather of Nicholas DePaul, Sadie Magnussen, Natale and Nicolette Mascolo. Dear brother of Eileen Lepardo and Vicki Mastropolo. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Raymond was pre-deceased by his wife Phyllis Magnussen and his parents Harry and Florence Magnussen.
The funeral mass will be held at St. Genevieve Church in Elizabeth on Thursday, June 13th at 10:30am, followed by the entombment at Rosedale Cemetery in Linden.
