Ralph C. Battista, Jr. Obituary

Ralph C. Battista, Jr., “Butch”, 63, of Parsippany, formerly of E. Hanover and Bloomfield, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on December 23, 2024.

Butch was raised in Bloomfield NJ and graduated from Bloomfield High school in 1979. Upon graduation from high school Butch worked in his family store (Spring Deli). From there he went on to work for the Essex County Sheriff’s office until retirement in 2001. In 1984, Butch met the love of his life, Fran, marrying her in 1988. Together they brought their two greatest joys into this world, Ralph III and Thomas Anthony. Butch was overwhelming generous, as shown by selflessly putting his life on hold to bethe caretaker to his older sister and aging parents until their passings. He truly had one of the biggest hearts around. In addition to spending time with his family, some of his greatest pastimes were cooking, coaching his sons and nephews in little league, and watching old westerns. One of his favorite things to do was make people laugh, which he did effortlessly. Butch was known to live life the way he wanted to and will be missed dearly by all those who knew and loved him.

Beloved husband of 37 years to Fran (Setaro) Battista.  Devoted father of Ralph Battista, III, his wife Danielle, Thomas Battista and his wife Tia.  Loving grandfather of Ryan Patrick.  Dear brother-in-law of Anthony Setaro, his wife Theresa, Michele Romano, her husband Joe, and Denise Smith.  Also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was pre-deceased by his parents Angelina and Ralph Battista, Sr., his sister Michele Battista and his sister-in-law Dolores Setaro.
