Prosper “Tony” Marcantonio, 91, of Livingston, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2025.
Tony was a proud army and National Guard Veteran who served overseas between the Korean and Vietnam wars. After his stint in the army, he worked for the Maplewood South Orange school district and then Bell Labs where he retired the first time. He later worked at David Alan Caterers, eventually retiring from there at the ripe old age of 85.
Tony enjoyed pouring a few Cheerios into his morning coffee, slowly sipping while reading every inch of the Star Ledger. He was always tinkering in the garage, taking care of his lawn, sitting outside watching the dogs and their walkers, and traveling, especially to Disneyworld. He had an infectious laugh and hearty appetite for Italian food and Chinese peppersteak.
Beloved husband of 47 years to Doris. Devoted step-father of Vicki, her husband Scott, David, his wife Staci, Sue and her husband Chris. Cherished “Pop Pop” of Stephanie and Deborah, Samantha, Sydney and Dillon, Daniel, Steven and Jessica. Proud great-grandfather of Benaiah. Dear brother of Dominick and Antoinette. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Tony was pre-deceased by his parents Joseph and Jennie, and his siblings Mary, Madeline, Tessie, Tommy, Joseph, John, Louis, Nicky, Patsy, Carmine, Carmela and Louisa.
