Philip Candura, 84, of East Hanover, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.
Phil was born and raised in Newark NJ and moved to East Hanover in 1976 where he built his home and raised his family. He worked for Waldman Corporation in Parsippany for many years before becoming Sr. Vice President of Toppan Graphic Arts Center in Mountain Side & Sommerset. He retired from Toppan when his late wife Jayne was diagnosed with cancer. He retired to care for his beautiful loving wife and focus on her. After the passing of his wife, he obtained his CDL license and drove the school bus for the East Hanover School System a job he absolutely loved, and developed even more friendships. He loved spending time at his home in Wildwood Crest sitting on the beach eating sandwiches, going to the boardwalk, relaxing by the pool, and talking with friends. He loved to take long walks in the evening on the beach with his late son-in-law Larry and stop at the bakery to get freshly baked donuts and bread. He was always on the go and doing something. He loved doing yard work and going to the Old Car Show in Parsippany. He never missed any of his grandchildren’s activities they participated in, from concerts and plays, baseball and soccer to marching band and fencing, we would all laugh when he cheered for the wrong person/team in fencing. He loved playing the piano, something he learned when he was young and was often heard playing late in the evening or early morning. This love and talent was passed down to his grandson Daniel Jr.
Phil was a kind and caring person, always putting his family first. He would go out of his way to help anyone and was always there to provide insight and advice. He was a true philanthropist and held a huge space in his heart for people and animals.
Devoted father of Geralyn M. Colasurdo, Gina Marie Winkler, and her husband Daniel. Cherished grandfather of Deanna & Jacqualyn Colasurdo, Daniel, Jr. & Sean Philip Winkler. Dear brother of Rose Ann Golub. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Philip was pre-deceased by his wife Jayne M. Candura, his parents Louis & Rose Candura, his son-in-law Larry A Colasurdo and his brother-in-law Peter Golub.
