Olympia Rose (Campesi) Scarabino, “Cookie”, 80, of East Hanover, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family, on February 5, 2024.
Born in Newark and raised in Valisburg she was the 3rd child of Joseph and Emmanuela (Minnie) Campesi. She graduated from West Side High School, married her sweetheart Frank and raised her children in Livingston, NJ before moving to East Hanover in 1993.
Cookie loved her family, chocolate and dancing with her favorite leading men- Frank and her brother Anthony! As a devout Catholic, she volunteered as a CCD teacher at St. Raphael's (Livingston) and made and donated rosary beads. But her greatest enjoyment came from being a Nonna.
In her professional life she was known as Pia. She worked for Continental Insurance Co, AAA and Automatic Switch in Florham Park.
Beloved wife of 58 years to Frank Scarabino. Devoted mother of Angel Mullen, her husband Steven, Gina Binetti, her husband Steven, Tina Scarabino and her husband Robert Scarzella. Cherished grandmother of Brian and Mia, Brianna and Christina. Dear sister of Jackie Campesi DeSiena. Loving aunt of Michele, Debbie, Joseph, Joy and Lauren. Also survived by her sister-in-law Lucille Codella, and many cousins and friends.
Cookie was pre-deceased by her parents Joseph and Emmanuella Campesi, her brother Anthony Campesi, his wife Lois, and her brother Thomas Campesi.
Visitation at the Leonardis Memorial Home, Inc., 210 Ridgedale Avenue, Florham Park on Thursday from 4-8pm, including a Celebration of a Lifetime Service from 7-7:30pm. Funeral on Friday, assembling at the funeral home at 10:30am, followed by the funeral mass at St. Rose of Lima Church in East Hanover at 11:30am. Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
