Norma will be remembered for the joy she shared so generously, expressed through laughter, warmth, and a remarkable ability to make everyone feel special. Whether gathered around a table, lounging at the beach, or cheering from the sidelines, she brought happiness to every moment and every person around her.
Born in Staten Island, New York, Norma’s vibrant spirit showed itself early. Her brother often said she had a “heck of a good arm,” and she could often be found playing stickball and touch football in the streets with him and neighborhood friends. She also enjoyed swimming and bowling, often alongside her sister and mother. The time was as much about laughter as it was about the activity itself.
Music filled her early years. She learned to play the piano, and her family would gather around her to sing Christmas songs. These simple moments became treasured traditions that reflected her deep love of family.
Norma attended Rutgers University, earning her degree in nursing. She began her career at Overlook Medical Center on the psychiatric floor, where she formed lifelong friendships and cared deeply for her patients. She later found her calling as a school nurse. “Nurse Norma” became a beloved presence in school, and she cherished taking care of children.
She met her husband, Tom, through a ski club, where they bonded over a shared love of skiing and adventure. Together, they raised their two sons in Morristown, New Jersey, in a home where a passion for sports was always present. Their yearly ski trips and summers at the beach will always be fondly remembered.
One of Norma’s greatest joys was time spent with family at the beach house. Ocean Beach 2 became her happy place, a gathering spot filled with family, friends, and endless summer memories. With her sons serving as lifeguards, she rarely missed a tournament, breakfast, or fundraiser. She was deeply proud to be part of that close-knit community and embraced every moment of it.
Her love of sports never faded. A devoted New York Jets fan, Norma cherished attending games with her father, sons, sister, and friends as a season ticket holder, always cheering with enthusiasm and heart. She brought that same competitive spirit to fantasy football, where she relished the camaraderie, banter, and fun it brought to her family.
She was the devoted wife of Thomas Brzozowski. Loving mother to Brian Brzozowski and his wife Melanie; William Brzozowski and his wife Alyssa. Cherished grandmother to Hailey, Brady, Luke, and Brielle Brzozowski. Caring sister to William “Bill” Stoddard and his wife Patricia; and Jackie Young and her husband John. She was also a dear aunt to Christina Kibbler and her husband John; Sandra Massaroni and her husband Patrick; John Young and his wife Jenna; and Jeffrey Young. A very proud great-aunt to Taylor, James, Jack, Liam, and Jameson.
Above all, Norma will be remembered for the love she shared, the laughter she sparked, and the deep connections she nurtured throughout her life.
Funeral services were held privately.
