Michele Gibson Cappiccille, Nurse Practitioner and loving wife, died Wednesday December 21, 2022 at her home in Florham Park, following a 9 month long illness. Michele was born in Glenside, Pennsylvania to loving parents, Robert and Elizabeth Gibson. She was one of 4 children and the only girl. And although she remarked that it didn’t make her special, all who knew her, know that she was the light of her parents’ eyes. Michele was funny, full of life, had the ability to laugh at herself, loved a party, planned the best parties, and was a devoted friend and daughter. She was proud of her Irish heritage and traveled to Ireland many times to visit her Aunts, Uncles and cousins there. She loved a Harp and was an accomplished Irish Dancer. In 1981, at the encouragement of her father and her dear Uncle David, she moved to South Orange and began college at Seton Hall University. She graduated in 1985 with her BS in Nursing and continued her career until March 3, 2022 when a devastating stroke left her unable to work. During her career she worked at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in the ICU, and at SBMC/RWJ Barnabas in the Cardiac Surgery department as a Nurse Practitioner after earning her Masters in Nursing while working full time. In all her positions she gained and retained friends that she had for her lifetime. Through the years she volunteered in many capacities, taking summers off to work with migrant workers on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, and several mission trips to Guatemala to offer medical care to those who didn’t have access. She took extraordinary care of both her father and mother and her great sadness is that she won’t be there to continue that for her mother. Michele had a full life which was made complete in 2009, when she met her true love, Mike. They married in 2011 and enjoyed the years traveling, enjoying Mike’s home cooked meals, going out to Seton Hall Basketball games, hosting holidays, and visits from family and friends. Michele is survived by her loving husband, Michael Cappiccille, her cherished Mother, Elizabeth Gibson, her devoted step-daughters Emily Wolfe, her husband Gerard; Katie Frausini and her husband Alan. She is the loving step-grandmother of Grayce and Michael. She is the adored sister of Robert Gibson, David Gibson, Michael Gibson and his wife Pam and the dear aunt of Katie Gibson and Clare Gibson. She is also survived by many relatives and friends.
A memorial visitation will be held at the Leonardis Memorial Home, Inc., 210 Ridgedale Avenue, Florham Park on Tuesday, December 27th from 4-7pm. A memorial funeral mass will be held at Holy Family Church in Florham Park on Wednesday at 10am.
