Martin Skeele Obituary

Martin Thomas Skeele

Martin (Marty) Thomas Skeele, born on November 22, 1942, in Columbus, Ohio, peacefully passed away at home on July 2, 2024, after a short illness. An Eagle scout, Marty attended Ohio State University and earned a degree in Fine Arts and a master’s degree in communication technologies. He joined the ROTC program at Ohio State and after graduation served in the US Army in Germany where he rose to the rank of Captain. In Germany, he was able to indulge in his passion for skiing, auto racing, and travel while he served for three years.

Marty, a native Ohioan, began a career in academia at New Jersey City University, where he met and married his wife of the last fifty-two years, Rosemary Weiss Skeele. Marty’s vital focus was always on his family, and they shared a love of travel together.

Careerwise, Marty acquired another master’s degree in computer science at NJIT and moved to work endeavors in banking and computer science. He was employed over the years at Prudential, Anchor and J.P. Morgan. Not content to relax after he retired from business, he acquired an Educational Specialist degree from Seton Hall University and directed a high school computer center for ten years.

Throughout his life, Marty continued his creative diversions. He had the eye of an artist and the hands of a great craftsman. He created many beautiful objects over the years.

Devoted father of Colin and dear brother of Joseph, Marty is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Marty was pre-deceased by his parents Clark and Alice Skeele and his sibling Thomas.

A  committal service will be held at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum on Tuesday, July 23 at 11AM where he will be entombed.
