Martha Deep Obituary

On December 5th, Martha (Meek) Deep, loving wife and mother of two children, passed away at age 64. Martha was born on January 17, 1956 in Detroit MI to James and Carolyn Meek. The family shortly after moved to suburban Royal Oak MI where she attended Dondero High School. Martha received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Oakland University of Michigan and pursued a career in social services, retail sales and Human Resources. In 1985 Martha joined the recently formed People Express Airlines with Headquarters in Newark NJ as a Customer Service Manager.  She moved to New Jersey and worked in various roles as a Flight Attendant, Training Manager and Human Resource Manager. She met her husband John who also worked at People Express and they married in October of 1988. Shortly after the airline merged with Continental Airlines Martha worked at Macys Herald Square as the Manager of HR and continued in Senior HR roles at Fortunoff’s in NJ and NYC.  In 2007 she joined Insperity Services and elevated to her current position as Director of Mid-Market Service. Martha and John raised their two children in East Hanover NJ, Kally who attended Marymount University in NYC and Michael who attended the University of Michigan.

Martha had a passion for Ballet which she had studied and performed in Michigan where she studied at The Rosemarie Floyd School of Dance. She loved the theatre and musical performances especially when Kally and Michael were performing. The family would often visit Michigan relatives and loved going to University of Michigan football games in Ann Arbor. Martha spent her youthful summers visiting her grandparents and cousins in Tennessee and South Carolina where her mom and dad grew up before moving to Michigan. She also loved the New Jersey shore and the big family and friend gatherings there every summer. Martha was an avid daily workout enthusiast always health and nutrition conscious. She was a spirited supporter of many East Hanover Township activities. She was known for her infectious smile, hard and passionate work, her warm, kind and compassionate spirit.

Martha was preceded in death by her father James and Mother Carolyn. She is survived by her husband John and her two beloved children Kally and Michael; her brother James (Larry) and wife Lilly of Royal Oak MI, sister Kathy and husband Rick of Sterling Heights MI, brother Ken and wife Diane of Auburn Hills MI, In laws Denise and Francis Glashausser of Wayne NJ, Edward and Sunny Deep of Montclair NJ and Barbara and Peter Kozak of Bloomfield NJ; her 17 nieces and nephews and numerous cousins.  

A private family funeral service will be held at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover NJ.
