Marie L. Colangelo

Marie L. (LaRosa) Colangelo, 102, of Florham Park, NJ and East Orleans, MA, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2025.

Marie was a native of Port Chester, NY where she lived until relocating to Florham Park in 1962. 

Marie attended Port Chester public schools and Berkeley School for Secretaries (now known as Berkeley College). She worked as an executive secretary for Union Carbide Corporation prior to starting her family.

Her life’s work was as a mother and homemaker. She had an unending thirst for knowledge, especially in the health and nutrition field. She was truly the heart of the home. An excellent cook and baker, she welcomed everyone into her home, especially her children’s friends. She was a wonderful mother who was always there when we needed her the most, offering support, wisdom, and love.

Devoted mother of Joan Praiss, her husband Tom; NY St. Sup. Ct. Justice (Ret.) John P. Colangelo, his wife Andrea, Janis Hoehn, her husband Michael and Ruth Anne Seifert, and her husband Doug. Cherished grandmother of Cristine Hild, her husband Michael, Michael Hoehn, his wife Natasha, Nichole Seifert, Scott Seifert, his fiancé Carolyn and John Michael Colangelo.  Proud great-grandmother of Collin, Ethan, Brennan Hild and Domenick and Luca Hoehn.

Marie was pre-deceased by her husband of 70 years, Domenick P. Colangelo, her parents A. Thomas and Fina LaRosa, and her siblings Elizabeth LaRosa, Concetta LaRosa and Thomas LaRosa. 
 
Visitation at the Leonardis Memorial Home, Inc., 210 Ridgedale Avenue, Florham Park on Monday, January 13th from 9:30-11am, followed by the funeral mass at St. Rose of Lima Church in E. Hanover at 11:30am.  Interment at Holy Rood Cemetery in Morristown.
