Marcia I. Walter (Spray), 89, of East Hanover, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on January 22, 2021.
Marcia was a lover of music, the fine arts, and classic and western movies. Many of her paintings grace the walls of her families’ homes. From teen years through adulthood, Marcia enjoyed dancing and roller skating. She was a voracious reader of mystery and suspense novels and a patron of the East Hanover Public Library for over 50 years. Her baking skills were superb and her brown sugar cinnamon twists were requested often.
Marcia was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, the ultimate teacher and team player, who supported her family at home, cheered from the bleachers at athletic events, and applauded enthusiastically in the audience at concerts. She volunteered regularly for Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and the Hanover Park Band Parents Association. Marcia always loved to have conversations with friends and family members of all generations.
Marcia graduated from Keyport High School and then went to work for Van’s Real Estate Agency. Upon marrying, she lived in Orange, NJ and then East Hanover, NJ for 57 years. In later years, she worked for Office Temporaries primarily at Sandoz (now Novartis) in the purchasing department. When retired Marcia enjoyed traveling with her husband, children, and grandchildren.
Devoted mother of Judith Bianco, her husband Christopher, David A. Walter, Susan Gabel and her husband Edward. Cherished grandmother of Tatiana & Galina Bianco, Steven & Mark Gabel. Also survived by many loving family members, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Marcia is pre-deceased by her husband Robert K. Walter of 50 years, her parents Margaret & Herbert Spray, and her siblings Herbert Spray, Geri Bell and Jane Lewis.
Funeral services were held privately. Please check back for a memorial service that will be held at a later date.
Donations in Marcia’s name can be made to the East Hanover Public Library, 415 Ridgedale Avenue, East Hanover, NJ 07936.
