Lawrence Mihalko Obituary

Lawrence “Rabbit” or “Larry” Mihalko, 57, of Morristown, passed away on May 7, 2026. Beloved husband of 19 years to Rebecca (Carr) Mihalko, with whom he shared a life rooted in deep love, easy laughter, and the kind of everyday moments that become a family’s most treasured memories. Devoted and immeasurably proud father of Liam and Lucy (Ollie), who were not just his children but his heart, his joy, and the brightest part of every day. Cherished son of Barbara (Feltes) Mihalko and the late Thomas Mihalko, who nurtured his curiosity, creativity, and love of music from an early age, and dear brother to Jane Ann (Mihalko) Osterman and Elizabeth (Mihalko) Buck, who shared a lifetime of memories, laughter, and stories with him.

He leaves behind a wide circle of family and friends who adored him — people who knew the comfort of his unforgettable hugs, the kindness in his smile, and the way he made everyone feel welcome, seen, and at ease. A true Leo, he loved being at the center of the story, and he never missed a chance to make someone laugh. He was an exceptional storyteller, and his spirit — warm, bold, generous, and full of life — will stay with them always.

Raised in Mercerville, NJ, Lawrence lived with a heart full of curiosity and passion. He loved cooking, cycling, music, and movies — but more than anything, he loved sharing those passions with the people he adored. Teaching Liam to cook, watching late night movies with Lucy (Ollie), and exploring new places near and far with Becky were the moments he treasured most.

A gifted bass player, Lawrence’s musical talent emerged early. From high school bands to writing, co-writing, and producing original music, he poured his creativity into every note. Recently, he found renewed joy playing alongside his dad — a full-circle moment that meant the world to him. Wherever Lawrence was, music followed.

Lawrence believed in living fully, loving deeply, and finding adventure wherever he could. He embraced life with fearless, infectious enthusiasm. He lived in New Jersey, Florida, Colorado, and his favorite, San Diego, CA, collecting stories and friendships along the way. He surfed, rock climbed, canyoneered, hiked, rode ATVs and motorcycles, skydived, floated in hot air balloons, mountain biked, and even completed a century ride for charity. He chased every horizon — yet his favorite adventure of all was the everyday one: raising twins with Becky, building a life filled with laughter, love, and wonder.

His zest for life, his warmth, and his adventurous spirit will be deeply missed. His story lives on in the people he loved and the memories he created. We take comfort in knowing that, even in his final moments, Lawrence gave the gift of life to others — a final act of generosity that reflects exactly who he was.

A memorial visitation will be held at Leonardis Memorial Home, 210 Ridgedale Avenue, Florham Park, on Thursday, May 21st from 1–4pm, including a prayer service at 2pm. A repast will follow for family and friends to gather and continue celebrating his life.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lawrence’s name to a charity of your choice — a tribute as boundless and heartfelt as the way he lived.
