Kathy “Dee” Morgenthien, 81, of Florham Park, formerly of Rockaway Township passed away peacefully on February 13, 2025.
Kathy was born in Newark and raised in Irvington. In June 1962, while working for NJ Bell, Kathy was in a bowling league where she met the love of her lifetime Tom. They married in 1964 and eventually settled in Rockaway Township in 1967. Kathy and Tom were parishioners and active at St. Clement Pope and Martyr Church. Kathy worked as a Teachers Aide in the Rockaway Township School System at Birchwood School as well As KD Malone from 1975-1985. In 1985, Kathy rejoined Bell Atlantic like her husband, sister and many in-laws. She was a 411 operator then moved into an Administrative Assistant position in Patterson until retirement in 2000. We jokingly called NJ Bell/Bell Atlantic the family company.
After the passing of her Tom, she moved to Florham Park with her sister Honey and her family.
Kathy loved to travel and a cruise to Hawaii with Honey and the Helland family was one for the ages. Trips to Cape Hatteras with the Morgenthiens were wonderful memory makers. Kathy enjoyed her travels to see her children.
Devoted mother of Thomas F. Morgenthien, his wife Regina, Susan Helland and her husband Tom. Cherished grandmother of Thomas R. Morgenthien and his wife Lauren. Dear sister of Jack Croghan and Honey McCarthy. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
Kathy was pre-deceased by her husband Thomas and her granddaughter Karline.
A Memorial Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Family Church in Florham Park on Saturday, March 15th at 9:30am, followed by the inurnment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Kathy’s name to your favorite charity.
