Joseph Anthony Varricchio, 94, of Florham Park, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2022. Joseph was born in Brooklyn, New York on September 13, 1927. He is a graduate of New York University, and served in the Army as a medic between 1945-1947. He had a 40 plus year career as an accountant and controller at C.V. Starr, the parent company of American International Group (AIG). Joe was a local history buff, and expert on New York City history during the first several decades of the last century. He was a Brooklyn Dodgers fan, and enjoyed many visits to Ebbets Field in Brooklyn. In addition to being a very handy guy, Joe was an accomplished painter, and some of his paintings were exhibited at The Summit Art Festival for a number of years. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandsons, David and Paul, teaching them useful skills and sharing great stories. Joe has lived with his sister Dora in Florham Park for over 25 years.
Devoted uncle of Mary Novick and her husband Nicholas Riccio, whom he treated like his children. Loving grandfather of David Riccio, his wife Mercy, and Paul Riccio. Dear brother of Dora Novick. Joseph was pre-deceased by his parents Gaetano & Maria Varricchio.
Visitation at the Leonardis Memorial Home, Inc., 210 Ridgedale Avenue, Florham Park on Wednesday from 4-7 pm. Funeral on Thursday assembling at the funeral home at 9 am followed by the Funeral Mass at Holy Family Church in Florham Park at 10 am.
