Joseph Squillace Obituary

Joseph R. Squillace, of Morristown, NJ, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2024, at the age of 72, surrounded by his loving family.

Joseph, affectionately known as Joe, was born in Brooklyn, NY.  He grew up in Cliffside Park, NJ and graduated from Cliffside Park High School in 1969.

Joe had many personal achievements.  He was an entrepreneur; an accomplished amateur musician; a talented chef; a skilled mechanic; and a lover of fine classic cars. (His favorite, a blue Cadillac Brougham, gave rise to one of his many colorful nicknames, "Joe Brougham.")

Joe was the founder and co-owner of Tuscany Soap Company, based in Fort Lee, and served as a raw materials provider to Lever Brothers and other large soap manufacturers.  Joe subsequently worked for many years as a commercial moving supervisor for J.D. Carton & Son of Parsippany, NJ. Following his retirement from J.D. Carton, Joe worked as a medical courier for Impulse Courier of Whippany, NJ. In 1996, Joe met the love of his life, Maureen Velez, and they were married in 2007.

Joe was known for his larger-than-life personality, sharp sense of humor, hilarious stories, and flamboyant expressions (his favorite being "We gotta goooooooo!"). He brought all of these traits to his family and work relationships and numerous friendships.  He lived a full life and prioritized his relationships with others.

Joe is survived by his sister Jacqueline (Jackie) Laba and her husband Mike; his brother John and his wife Joi (Tafro); his daughter Kelly Velez; his daughter Katlyn Aponte and her wife Myrna; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Joe was pre-deceased by his parents, Josephine and Jack, and his beloved wife Maureen.
