It is with great sadness we announce that Joseph “Joe” Sardini (Age 92) has peacefully passed away on August 7, 2025.
Joe was born on October 21,1932 in Newark, NJ and lived there throughout his childhood. After returning from the Korean War where he served as a tank crew commander with the United States Army armored division, Joe entered an apprenticeship program and trained as a tool and die maker. He then embarked on a long and successful career with Hyatt Roller Bearing Company and General Motors holding positions of increasing responsibility in the technical area of automotive quality assurance.
After retirement from General Motors, Joe began driving a school bus for the East Hanover Township school district. In this role, he became a fixture among the daily routine of countless youngsters who always remembered “Mr. Joe” with presents and homemade cards during the holidays. Eventually, after a lifetime of work and devotion to his family, Joe enjoyed reading historical non-fiction and rooting for his beloved New York Yankees.
Joe was a devoted husband to his wife Dee Sardini (née Parks) born in Liberty, New York whom he was married to for 54 years until her passing in 2018. He was a dedicated family man and father of Jay Sardini, his wife Dawn, Todd Sardini and his wife Silvia. Cherished grandfather of Brian, his wife Kristen, Connor, Drew, Steven and Julia. Proud great-grandfather of Aila.
Joe was a man who understood the meaning of accountability, commitment, and responsibility. He lived his life in fulfillment of these ideals and inspired others by his daily example. Joe had an inquisitive and sharp mind, and sought balance and fairness in all he did. Joe will be missed, but his memory and example will long be cherished by all who knew him.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
