John C DeVone

John C. DeVone, 54, of Whippany, passed away on October 4, 2025, surrounded by his family.

John was known for his big smile and bigger heart.  He was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need.  His carpentry and mechanical skills put him in high demand among family and friends.  John’s work ethic was unmatched. His employers throughout the years got a two for one having him on the job.  John was an excellent cook, whether he was running the BBQ grill or cooking Christmas Eve dinner you knew it was going to be great.  John’s love for his family and friends was immeasurable and his impact on all who knew him is too large to summarize.  Though our memories of John will comfort us, we will miss him dearly.

Cherished son of Genevieve DeVone.  Loving brother of Nick DeVone, Carmen DeVone and his wife Amy.  Cherished uncle of Michael DeVone and Peter DeVone.  Dear nephew of Mary Ann Gammero.  Proud great-uncle of Matthew, Maria, Dean, Kenneth, Nicolette, James and Joseph.  Cousin of John Gammero, James Gammero, his wife Rosaria, and Jeannine Whitman.  John was pre-deceased by his father Carmen “Butch” DeVone. 

Visitation at the Leonardis Memorial Home, Inc., 210 Ridgedale Avenue, Florham Park on Thursday, October 9th from 4-7pm.  Funeral on Friday, October 10th, assembling at the funeral home at 9:30am, followed by the funeral mass at Our Lady of Mercy Church in Whippany at 10:45am.  Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.
