John J Carr

John J. Carr (92) was born on December 11, 1931 in Pawtucket, RI. He lived in Owensville, KY for part of his youth before moving to East Orange, NJ. He graduated from both Seton Hall Prep and Seton Hall University. His friends and family knew him as “Jack”. He spent time in the Marines prior to beginning his working career in sales and owned his own company. He married his wife, Patricia (Hughes) Carr in 1957 and spent the majority of their 66 year marriage living in Florham Park. He was a member of Holy Family Church for over 50 years. He and Patricia moved to The Oaks in Denville, NJ four years ago. Some of his fondest memories were spending the summers at the beach in Stone Harbor and dancing with his wife.

In addition to his wife, Patricia, John is survived by his four children. Carolyn Vodoklys (Steve), Janmarie Carr-Jones (Philip), Greg Carr and Suzanne Carr. His eleven grandchildren: Casey, Austin, Caitlin, Brian, Ryan, Tori, Denise, Tyler, Caroline, Mitchell and Tricia. He also has six great grandchildren…all girls.

He passed away peacefully at home with his wife at his side. 

Visitation at the Leonardis Memorial Home, Inc., 210 Ridgedale Avenue, Florham Park on Tuesday, January 9th from 9:30-11am, followed by the funeral mass at Holy Family Church in Florham Park at 11:30am. In lieu of flowers, donations in John's memory may be made to Holy Family Church.
