Joelyn Hoferer Obituary

Joelyn A. Hoferer (Murphy), 93, of Florham Park, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Trenton, NJ, Joelyn was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to so many. She meant something special to every single person who knew her.

Joelyn trained as a Medical Technologist and worked throughout her adult life, continuing to do so until the age of 82—a reflection of her strong work ethic and lifelong desire to be of service.

She was best known for her selfless dedication to volunteerism. Joelyn served on the Florham Park Memorial First Aid Squad for more than 50 years, giving countless hours to her community with quiet compassion and unwavering commitment.

A faithful parishioner of Holy Family Church, Joelyn’s devotion to her faith was evident in all she did. She ran the church’s craft fair for more years than can be counted, served Communion to homebound parishioners, and was a member of the Rosary Society. She also served as a Eucharistic Minister and Lector, roles she fulfilled with deep reverence and joy.

Joelyn was always ready to help—gladly chauffeuring others to appointments when they were in need. A resident of Florham Park for over 65 years, she loved this community and gave back to it wholeheartedly.

Most important to Joelyn was her family, and the immense pride she took in her four children, twelve grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. They were the center of her life and her greatest joy.

Joelyn will be remembered for her generosity, faith, humility, and boundless care for others. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Devoted mother of William G. Hoferer, his wife Paula, Catherine Trager, her husband Wesley, Patricia Lamberta and her husband Frank.  Cherished grandmother of Paul, Jack and Anna, Billy, his wife Christina, Laura, Ryan and his wife Nikki, Allison, her husband Vinny, Matthew and his wife Andrea, Michelle, her husband Adam, Nicole, her husband Chris, Danny, his wife Kat, Timothy and his fiancé Claudia.  Proud great-grandmother of Theo, Rose, Nora, Evelyn, Wesley and Maeve.  Dear brother of William Murphy and his wife Joyce.  Also survived by her daughter-in-law Susan, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Joelyn was pre-deceased by her husband George, her son Thomas, and her parents Joseph and Evelyn.
