Joann Mulholland (Mastroeni), 79, of Waretown, passed away at her son & daughter-in-law’s home with family on December 14, 2024.
Joann was the devoted mother of Michele Manna and her boyfriend Phil, Gregory S. Mulholland and his wife Erminia. Cherished grandmother of Veronica and Nicholas Manna, Kayla, Martina and Sabrina Mulholland. Loving sister of Anthony Mastroeni, Karen Redvanly and her husband Kevin. Dear sister-in-law of Geri Mastroeni and Katie Collis. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Joann was pre-deceased by her husband Gregory John Mulholland, her parents Joseph and Ida Mastroeni , and her brother Samuel Mastroeni.
Joann Mulholland, a cherished daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and dedicated educator, passed away surrounded by her loved ones.
Born and raised in Newark, New Jersey, Joann was a proud graduate of Saint Vincent Academy. During her teenage years, her family moved to Union, where she spent most of her life before settling in Waretown two decades ago. Joann began her career at Prudential Insurance Company, serving as a desk secretary for 10 years. However, her true calling emerged during her 25 years in the Union school system, where she devoted herself to working in special education classrooms. Her unwavering dedication, compassion, and support touched the lives of countless students, leaving a lasting legacy of kindness and service.
Beyond her professional achievements, Joann was known for her love of dancing and her talent for telling jokes, which brought joy and laughter to everyone around her. She will be remembered for her warm heart, quiet strength, and steadfast faith that guided her throughout life.
Visitation at the Leonardis Memorial Home, Inc., 210 Ridgedale Avenue, Florham Park on Tuesday from 4-7pm. Funeral on Wednesday, assembling at the funeral home at 10:15am, followed by the funeral mass at St. Rose of Lima Church in East Hanover at 11:15am. Entombment at Gates of Heaven Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Joann’s name to the American Cancer Society or Special Olympics New Jersey.
