Joan N Serrani

Joan Norma Serrani (Failla), 88, of West Orange, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2023.

Born in Newark NJ, Joan grew up in a very loving, happy Italian American home with her father, Joseph, mother, Katie, brothers, Neddy and Dominic and sister, Florence. All who predeceased her.  

Joan graduated West Side High School, Newark in 1953.   In 1959, she married the guy down the block, Anthony Serrani, who predeceased her. They moved to West Orange where they raised their two daughters, Camille and Adrienne.

A legal secretary for many years, she retired from Newark Economic Development Corporation.

Joanie was happiest with her three grandsons, Christopher, Kyle and Matthew, who lovingly called her Grammy.  Being a part of their lives as they grew up was her greatest pride and fulfilled her life from the days they entered this world. 

In her free time, she loved travelling abroad, cruises with friends and family, trips to Las Vegas and Atlantic City, trips to the track and summers on Lake Champlain in Vermont and the many beautiful beaches of New Jersey.

Needlepointing, reading, drawing and painting were among her favorite hobbies.   She also loved a good Hallmark Channel movie.  

She is survived by her loving family, Camille Ostrow and her husband Larry, Adrienne Monaco and her husband Kevin and their sons, her grandsons, Christopher, Kyle and Matthew.

Visitation at the Leonardis Memorial Home, Inc., 210 Ridgedale Avenue, Florham Park on Saturday from 10-11:45am, followed by the funeral mass at St. Vincent Martyr Roman Catholic Church in Madison at 12:30pm.  Entombment at Hollywood Memorial Park in Union.
