Jerome M. Kelly, “Jerry”, 92, of Florham Park, passed away peacefully at his home on May 26, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Jerry was born and raised in the Flatbush section of Brooklyn, NY. One of four children and many bonus “siblings” that his parents took in during the Depression, he led a colorful and mischievous childhood. He spent time raising a pony with his siblings, helping at his father’s gas station and taxi service. Jerry served in the Army Rangers during the Korean War, participating in the battle at Pork Chop Hill, survived grave injuries, and was awarded several medals.
Post-war, he eventually found his calling in insurance claims investigations, working for US Life and then AIG, from which he retired in 1996.
He settled in Florham Park, NJ with his family in 1968, keeping busy with home improvement projects, woodworking, reading, drawing cartoons and caricatures of neighborhood children and those at his sons’ Little League games, and telling jokes at every opportunity.
P.S. If you borrowed any of his tools, he wants them back. It’s in the will.
Beloved husband of 59 years to Lynne (Fry) Kelly. Devoted father of Jerry Kelly, his wife Marie, Tom Kelly, his wife Kathy, and Christine Kelly. Cherished grandfather of Mary and Alyssa Kelly, Owen and Daniel Kelly. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Jerry was pre-deceased by his parents Frank and Kate Kelly and was the last surviving of 4 siblings.
