Jennifer D. Pietropinto-Hanna, 42, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2025, with her beloved companion, Cinnamon, by her side.
A native of Parsippany, NJ, Jennifer (Jenn) moved to Lake Hopatcong in 2015, where she quickly became a beloved fixture in the neighborhood. Jenn had a zest for life and never missed an opportunity to brighten someone’s day. She never met an animal she didn’t love, and the feeling was mutual. Whether it was dogs, cats, or even wildlife, they were drawn to her gentle peace, quiet grace, and nurturing soul. Many lovingly compared her to Snow White, enchanted by the way animals seemed to flock to her for a treat, a pet, or a cheerful “Hi, baby!”
Jenn never passed up a sunset. She would pause to admire the colors as the sun dipped below the horizon and always found beauty in small moments and joy in the everyday.
Jenn and Cinnamon became well known around Lake Hopatcong for their epic daily walks, often over eight miles, in all weather. One neighbor affectionately referred to her as “The Postal Service,” because neither snow, rain, heat, nor gloom of night ever stopped their appointed rounds.
She was also legendary for her Halloween and Christmas house displays. Every year, she lovingly enlisted her husband, Chris, to help set up. After a strong start, she would often sneak inside for a warm break while he finished. He complained, of course, but secretly loved it because it brought her so much joy.
Jenn was endlessly curious and full of wonder. She loved to travel, spend time at the beach, and be surrounded by friends and family. She was a proud aunt to four amazing nephews and made every moment with them count. Jenn loved with her whole heart, and she lived with it too. Though she was born with a heart condition, she never let it limit her. She simply saw it as one more reason to pursue joy, connection, and adventure with everything she had. She led a full and healthy life and remained fit and active, always out walking with Cinnamon, exploring new places, and making the most of every day. She traveled to many incredible destinations, but her favorites included Italy, Aruba, the Galapagos Islands, Antarctica, and Riviera Maya in Mexico. The common thread among them was her deep love for beaches, wildlife, and the sense of wonder these places inspired.
To know Jenn was to know the most dazzling eyes and the brightest smile in the world. It was those very eyes and that smile that made Chris fall madly in love with her in high school. What followed was 25 years of love, laughter, inside jokes, coffee dates, unforgettable adventures, and the quiet joy of daily life. Chris will love her, always and forever.
Jenn built a career she was proud of during her 20 years at the Sheraton Parsippany Hotel. What began as a part-time front desk role after her hospitality internship through County College of Morris became a fulfilling journey. She later earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality from Montclair State University and rose to become a Senior Sales Manager. Jenn was an award-winning, respected member of the team who led by example and achieved her goals. Her coworkers became lifelong friends, and her presence at the hotel left a lasting impact.
Jenn is survived by her beloved husband of 14 years, Chris Hanna; her devoted parents, Frank A. and Denise Pietropinto; her brothers, Frank Pietropinto, Jr. and his wife Ginger, and Christopher Pietropinto and his wife Melissa; her father-in-law, Emad Hanna, and her late mother-in-law, Barbara Hanna; her loving sister-in-law Katrina Tabeta and her husband Dustin; her cherished nephews, Dominic (son of Frank and Ginger), and Leo, Luka, and Danilo (sons of Katrina and Dustin); her constant companion Cinnamon; and many extended family members, friends, and neighbors who loved her dearly.
Visitation will be held at Leonardis Memorial Home, Inc., 210 Ridgedale Avenue, Florham Park on Friday, August 8th, from 2 to 5 PM.
Flowers are welcome for those who wish to send them. For those who prefer, contributions in Jennifer’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association or the animal welfare charity of your choice.
