Genevieve “Jean” Staigar, 90, of East Hanover, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Jean was born in Bayonne, NJ to Teofil and Marcella Wojcicki. As their third child she was welcomed into the world by her brother Joseph and sister Mary. In her adulthood she lived in Hillside, NJ where she raised her family and later relocated to East Hanover, NJ to be closer to her grandchildren. She was employed by Bristol Myers Squibb and Hanover Park High School. She was an active member of her community as a participant of the East Hanover Senior Center and a devoted parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church. She found joy in her world travels and being with family and friends.
Devoted mother of Joseph Staigar, his wife Donna, and Karen Staigar. Cherished grandmother of Jennifer Forino, her husband Paul, Lauren Jarger, her husband Erik, and Rachel Staigar. Proud great-grandmother of 5 great-grandchildren. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Jean was pre-deceased by her beloved husband of 70 years, Joseph H. Staigar.
Visitation at the Leonardis Memorial Home, Inc., 210 Ridgedale Avenue, Florham Park on Tuesday, May 28th from 4-7pm. Funeral on Wednesday, May 29th, assembling at the funeral home at 10:15am, followed by the funeral mass at St. Rose of Lima Church in East Hanover at 11:15am. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in N. Arlington.
