Jane Joan Cirella (Kiris) of West Orange, formerly of Newark, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2023 at 74 years of age.
Jane was born and raised in Newark and eventually moved to West Orange. She was a graduate of Vailsburg High School and then became certified at Katharine Gibbs School as a lifelong, legal secretary, of more than 40 years. She was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, and grandmother (aka “Best Nana Ever” per her granddaughters). Jane was a caring and selfless person, which was evident in everything she did – putting other’s needs before her own and graciously giving of herself. She had a BIG heart, an even bigger smile, and beautiful twinkling blue eyes that brought joy to everyone she met. She was a devout Catholic and member of Our Lady of the Lake Parish. Her faith and devotion carried her through her life during good and challenging times.
Her fierce love for her family was never ending and the essence of her character. She was tirelessly thoughtful and her caring nature was infinite and knew no boundaries. She often said to her granddaughters – “stay true to yourself, use good judgment, show compassion for others, and do the best you can every day.” She was a soulful lady filled with integrity. So too are the memories and values she has instilled in all of us. Nana was a living Angel who will now live on in our memories.
Beloved wife of 41 years to Nunzio Cirella. Devoted mother of Angela Tafro Scala and her husband Rob. Cherished grandmother of Isabella, Julia and Anneliese. Dear sister of JoAnn Roman, her husband Richard, brother John Kiris and his wife Gina. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Jane was pre-deceased by her parents Felix and Jenny Kiris.
Visitation is at the Leonardis Memorial Home, Inc., 210 Ridgedale Avenue, Florham Park on Thursday from 2-4 p.m. & 7-9 p.m. Funeral on Friday assembling at the funeral home at 8:45 a.m. followed by the funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Lake Church in Verona at 10:30a.m. Entombment at Hollywood Memorial Park in Union.
