James Basile Obituary

James A. Basile, 102, of Bloomfield, formerly of Jersey City, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on September 27, 2020.   Please check back for full obituary.

Beloved husband of over 80 years to the late Marion (Valenti) Basile.  Devoted father of Rosemarie Scannella, her husband James T., the late Michael R. Basile and his wife Victoria. Loving grandfather of Danielle Blatz, James A. Scannella, his wife Suzie, Michael J. Basile, David Basile, his wife Jennifer.  Proud great-grandfather of Nicole, James, Giselle, Marco, Jonah, Rowan and Isla.  Dear brother of Anthony Basile, the late Phyllis Tozzi, and the late Michael Basile.

For over 45 years he was a skilled mechanic for Public Service Transport of New Jersey.   Additionally, he worked as a diligent driver for Academy Bus Company.   James also owned and operated Marion's Luncheonette with his beloved wife.  In his spare time was the "king of lottery" and loved to gamble on the horses.   He was exceedingly active, and extremely boisterous and vivacious.  Anyone that knew him would know that James was truly one of kind.  Most of all, he adored his family - especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, September 30th, 11am at St. Rose of Lima Church in East Hanover, followed by the interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
