Ida M. Oakley (Warfield), 92, of Whippany, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on January 28, 2024.
Ida was a strong-willed and independent woman who will be remembered for her kind and generous nature. She had a passion for reading and could often be found immersed in a good book. Ida enjoyed going to the one of her favorite places in Atlantic City, and trying her luck at the slot machines. She also had a knack for word puzzles and would spend hours solving crosswords and word searches. Ida could always be found with a cup of coffee in one hand and a sweet treat in the other.
Ida's greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. Whether it was gathering for a meal, celebrating special occasions, or simply enjoying each other's company, she cherished these moments. Ida Mae always looked forward to playing card games with her grandchildren and telling stories of the past. She loved nothing more than being surrounded by her loved ones and being there for all of their milestones.
Devoted mother of Cindy Banta, her husband Donald, James Oakley, his wife Carmela, Cathy Boyadjis and her husband Paul. Cherished grandmother of Allison, Andrea and Donald, Matthew and Michael, James, Sara and Christina. Proud great-grandmother of Kayla, Ryan, Lauren, Emily, Matthew and Alaina. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Ida was pre-deceased by her husband James, her daughter Karen, and was the last surviving of 9 siblings.
A committal graveside service and inurnment will be held on Friday, February 2nd in the Maple Section at Restland Memorial Park in East Hanover at 11:30am, followed by a repast.
