Geraldine Smolen Obituary

Geraldine M. Nork Smolen “Geri”, of East Hanover, New Jersey was embraced with open arms by our heavenly Father at 7:45am on August 3rd, 2020 at Morristown Memorial Hospital.

Her life is truly to be celebrated as she rejoins her husband Henry, daughter Susan and many family and friends in the Eternal Kingdom of God. Geraldine "Geri" Smolen (Nork); devoted mother of Katherine Ann May, her husband Kieran, William Smolen, Robert Smolen, his wife Dawn, Richard Smolen and his fiance Sabrina; loving grandmother of Jennifer, Kerri, Samantha, Alex, and Verne Jr., and great-grandmother of Richard III and James. Mother-in-law of Verne Whitlock, Sr.

Geri was an exceptional mother and always had a kind word to say about everyone. She lead a Christ like life and put everything she had into her family and friends. Any stranger she met became a friend in a short time. Her skin was thick and her heart was oversized. She didn't focus on the negatives in life and approached everyday with great love in her heart. She cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and had a permanent smile on her face when she told a story about them all.  She treated every in-law as one of her own children and loved them all with purpose. She was an expert at 500 rummy and enjoyed an occasional visit to the casino to test the penny machines. Geri's Catholic faith was unshakable. From the time she woke up in the morning to the moment she put her head on her pillow, she praised our Heavenly Father and prayed for the intercession of our Blessed Mother by praying the Holy Rosary and Divine Chaplet every day.
