Fred W. Gaudert, 68, of East Hanover, passed away on January 29, 2026.
Fred was a lifelong resident of East Hanover. He attended Hanover Park High School and went on to County College of Morris, later raising his family in the community he always called home. Fred was a devoted and loving father, and his son Jason was truly the center of his world. He was always present, endlessly supportive, and deeply dedicated to being there for his son in every way.
Fred devoted more than 30 years of his career to the Automatic Switch Company, where he served as Leadman of Switch Manufacturing before retiring. His strong work ethic and commitment were evident throughout his career.
Fred also had a lifelong passion for automobiles, and his knowledge of classic cars was truly unmatched; so much so that he completely restored his favorite, a 1969 SS Camaro, from the ground up. He eagerly looked forward each year to attending Lead East with his cherished 1931 Ford Coupe Hot Rod. Fred especially enjoyed the annual Father’s Day car show hosted by the North Jersey Street Rod Association at Horseshoe Lake. Whether talking engines or restorations, cars were always close to his heart.
In 2017, Fred embraced his most cherished role, that of Pop Pop. Nothing brought him greater pride or joy than his grandchildren. He was a constant presence at their football and baseball practices, always cheering enthusiastically from the sidelines. From building model cars and birdhouses with his grandsons to hosting tea parties with his granddaughter, Fred treasured every moment spent with them and loved wholeheartedly.
His love, patience, and devotion will be remembered forever by those who knew him.
Devoted father of Jason Gaudert and his wife Marie. Cherished grandfather of Dominic, Frankie and Sienna. Loving son of Yoiko Gaudert. Dear brother of John Gaudert, his wife Toni, Robert Gaudert and his wife Melissa. Uncle of Jonathan, Nicole and Camden. Nephew of Rita Gaudert. Also survived by many cousins and friends.
Fred was pre-deceased by his father George Gaudert and his uncle Ulrich Gaudert.
