Lewis “Fred” Biancone, 84, of Union, formerly of Newark & Irvington, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family & friends on August 5, 2021.
Fred attended St. Leo’s and Arch Bishop Walsh High School and graduated from Insurance School, becoming an agent with State Farm prior to becoming an independent agent with his office on Springfield Avenue in Irvington. At the same time, he also was a travel agent and had his agency Tour The Winds in the same location.
Fred had active duty with the National Guard for more than 5 years as a sharpshooter and marksman, and was active in politics and fundraising for many charities in Irvington. He also had a social club called Casablanca in Kenilworth for over 25 years. Fred belonged to a well known singing group called The Sunny Lads, which included records “That’s My Desire” and “Your in Love”. The group worked with Connie Frances and other 50’s stars on the radio and television. Fred also enjoyed Sunday mornings bringing bagels to his grandchildren.
Devoted father of Fred A. Biancone, his wife Mary, and Laura Kelley. Cherished grandfather of Christopher and Marissa. Beloved long-time companion of Sandra Brady. Special uncle of Michael, Colleen, Anthony and Joseph. Also survived by his former spouse Eilene Petrosino and her brother Joseph Carchio of Huntington Beach Ca. Also many cousins and friends. He is pre-deceased by his parents Fred and Sally Biancone.
Visitation at the Leonardis Memorial Home, Inc., 210 Ridgedale Avenue, Florham Park on Monday from 4-8pm. Funeral on Tuesday assembling at 10:15am followed by the funeral mass at St. Rose of Lima Church in East Hanover at 11:15am. Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
