Frank Biank Obituary

Frank P. Biank, “Sonny”, 91, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2024.

Frank "Sonny" was born in Nesquehoning PA. He was the eldest of six and after losing his father at the age of 14 he would learn the meaning of becoming a father figure at a very young age. To make a better life for his family he would move them to Newark, NJ.

After honorably serving his country in the Army as a radio operator during the Korean War he returned home and took a job as a dispatcher at Edgcomb Steel but soon found that sitting behind a desk was not for him. He would then move on to carve out a life rooted in value, hard work, and service as a letter carrier in Berkeley Heights. His friendly nature and work ethic made him a cherished figure on his postal route.

He loved to work with his hands, so on his days off he would do handyman work, in which he took great pride in each and every job he did.

A beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather his family was his true passion. He loved spending time with them sharing stories of his past. He would boast and brag to everyone about how proud he was of each and every one of them.

Sonny was a patriarch in the truest sense and he taught us all about a life well lived. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Devoted father of Frank Biank, his wife Sheila, Alice Krivak, her husband Dave, and Glenn Biank.  Cherished grandfather of Frank Jr., Christopher and David, Bryan, Amanda, Nicole and Danielle, Nicholas and Anna.  Proud great-grandfather of Peyton, Madison, Providence, Delaney, Isla, Maeve and Palmer.  Dear brother of George, Vinny and Joe.  Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Frank was pre-deceased by his wife Maryann of 64 years, and his sisters Catherine and Carmela.

A memorial visitation will be held at the Leonardis Memorial Home, Inc., 210 Ridgedale Avenue, Florham Park on Thursday from 4-7pm.  A memorial mass will be held at Notre Dame of Mt. Carmel Church in Cedar Knolls on Friday at 9:30am.
