Francis P. (Frank) Nolan, "the peacemaker", 78, passed away into eternal peace on October 4, 2021, after a prolonged illness. He persevered and endured the trials of life with dignity and grace. He fought a courageous battle, all the while remaining a pillar of hope and wisdom, spreading love and joy to all. He was surrounded by loved ones which was a strength for him.
Born in Montclair, NJ, raised in West Orange, NJ, long-standing resident of over 53 years in East Hanover, NJ. Retired in 1997 after 34 years of dedicated service as a Supervisor at PSE&G, gas division, where he continued friendships until his death. He enjoyed last minute trips, since he was never big on planning and lived spontaneously. Fine dining and burger joints were his specialty and was always the perfect dinner date, forever insisted on paying. His deep love for his family sustained him during his lifetime and was his greatest joy. He was a generous man, selfless, humble, and kind.
Frank was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and served as Past Grand Knight 4th degree of the Knights of Columbus, Council #6504. He was a member of the Elks, served on the board of the Lupus Foundation, and supported many other organizations where he volunteered his time frequently. Frank was often seen at Saint John's bringing food to the homeless and collecting clothing for the women's battered shelter.
He is survived by his five loving children: A son, Frank Nolan, Jr. and four daughters, Lorraine (Jerry) Amato, Christina Bernard, Colleen (Stewart) Carpenter, and Michelle Nolan-Beal, as well as his nine cherished grandchildren: Jennifer Amato, Nicole Bernard Rosa, Ryan Bernard, Jacob Nolan, Jenna Nolan, Savanna Carpenter, Travis Carpenter, Kirsten Carpenter, Paige Beal. His loving brother and best friend, James (Susan) Nolan, sister Barbara (Jake) Lamb, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Frank was predeceased by his parents Agnes Nolan Cogan (nee McLaughlin) and John J. Nolan, Sr., his step-father, William M. Cogan, his brother John J. Nolan, Jr., his son, Gregory T. Nolan, and his son-in-law, Richard Bernard.
Frank was an exceptional man who will be remembered lovingly and profoundly missed.
A memorial mass will be held at St. Rose of Lima Church in East Hanover, NJ, on October 9, 2021 at 11:15 a.m., immediately followed by the inurnment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
