Florence R Orefice

Florence Rosemarie Orefice (Bertoldo), age 87, entered the Kingdom of Heaven and began her walk with the angels on March 21, 2023.

Florence was born February 26, 1936 to parents Benjamin and Lena Bertoldo in Orange, NJ. After graduating from Newark State College, she taught elementary school to children with learning disabilities at Eastern School in East Orange, NJ. As a passionate teacher she was loved both by her students and fellow educators for her selflessness and generosity. On August 11, 1963, she married her beloved husband, Dominick Salvatore Orefice, and they moved to their first house in West Orange.

The year 1974 was glorious for Florence as she was named one of America’s Outstanding Elementary Teachers as well as becoming a new mother to her son, Dominick Benjamin Orefice. Several years later the young family moved to New Vernon, NJ which would be her forever home which she filled with warmth and kindness.

Florence – or Flo, as she was known to friends – will be missed and remembered by the many lives she touched. She was a compassionate spirit whose devotion to caring for others was unmatched. As a proud member of The New Vernon Volunteer First Aid Squad for nearly forty years, she impacted the lives of so many people with her big heart and giving nature.

Her memory lives on with her devoted and loving husband, Dominick Salvatore; son, Dominick Benjamin and daughter-in-law, Maryann; brother, Richard Bertoldo; along with an abundance of family members, and countless friends.

Her family grieves her loss, but they take comfort knowing that Florence has returned to God’s glory and rejoined her heavenly family. Florence will be truly missed, but will we always feel her presence in our hearts.

A Celebration of Life and Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 31, 2023 at Leonardis Memorial Home located at 210 Ridgedale Ave. in Florham from 10am-12:45pm with a service to follow at 12:45pm at the funeral home. Inurnment will follow at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum located in East Hanover. Family and friends are welcomed to come and share fond memories and stories.
