Evelyn (Olsen) Stoddard, 94, of Randolph, NJ, formerly of Staten Island, NY, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2026.
Affectionately known as “Moma,” she carried herself with the grace and grit of what her loved ones fondly called a “Norwegian princess.” Family was the center of her world, and family was always close by.
Evelyn was born to Norwegian immigrant parents who settled in Staten Island, where Zion Lutheran Church was an important part of their life. While attending Port Richmond High School, Evelyn met her future husband, William Paul Stoddard. They shared 69 years of marriage before his passing in 2021 — a partnership defined by devotion, resilience, and love.
The early days of family life in Staten Island centered around community and togetherness. Evelyn enjoyed bowling, card games with friends, and summer days at Hillside Swim Club. Later the family moved to Randolph, New Jersey, where Evelyn embraced the peaceful setting on ‘top of the hill’ and hosted many cherished family holidays.
Summers were treasured by all at the family’s beach house in Ocean Beach 2. Generations gathered at the shore, savoring beach days, family meals, and the sweet treats "Moma" always had on hand. Days by the lagoon kept her family close and will remain some of their favorite memories.
She was the devoted wife of the late William Stoddard, fondly known as “Popa.” Loving mother of William “Bill” Stoddard and his wife Patricia; Norma Brzozowski and her husband Thomas; and Jackie Young and her husband John. Cherished grandmother of Christina Kibbler and her husband John; Sandra Massaroni and her husband Patrick; Brian Brzozowski and his wife Mel; William Brzozowski and his wife Alyssa; John Young and his wife Jenna; and Jeffrey Young. Proud great-grandmother of Taylor, Brady, Hailey, Jack, James, Jameson, Luke, Liam, and Brielle. She was also a dear aunt to Marianne, Rosemary, Joanne, the late Robert and his wife Caroline Brennick.
Funeral services will be held privately with the family.
