Emil C. Ruban, Jr., 88, of Florham Park, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2025.
Emil C. Ruban, Jr. was born in Irvington, N.J. in 1937. His parents, Emil Sr. and Louise Ruban raised him in Newark, N.J. along with his younger sister, Carol and his younger brother, Richard. As a child, Emil enjoyed attending Yankees baseball games and going to the beach. His family attended Wolff Memorial Presbyterian Church, where Emil first met Arline Dollberg, his future wife. As a teenager, Emil ran track in high school and participated in bowling. He served in the U.S. Army for 2 years and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Rutgers University. Emil worked as a financial investor most of his life, retiring from Merrill Lynch. One of Emil’s greatest passions was bowling. He participated in local bowling leagues for most of his life, even bowling 2 perfect games! He loved doing work in the yard and took great pride in tending to his landscaping. Even when he physically struggled later in life, he would sit in a chair in the backyard to plant flowers. He also collected trains, coins, and sports memorabilia.
Emil married Arline in May 1963. They had three children and moved their family to Florham Park in the late 1960’s, where they have lived for almost 60 years. The family have been members of Calvary Presbyterian Church. Emil was very involved with the town recreation programs, coaching little league, as well as bowling leagues. He was also involved in Boy Scouts. He enjoyed many family vacations on Long Beach Island, N.J.
Beloved husband of Arline Ruban. Devoted father of Charles John Ruban, his wife Mickie, Barbara Jean Garing, her husband Christian, Ellen Marie Gude and her husband Robert. Cherished grandfather of Jack and Peter Garing. Dear brother of Carol Gronau, her husband Carl, Richard Ruban and his wife Carolyn.
A memorial visitation will be held at the Leonardis Memorial Home, Inc., 210 Ridgedale Avenue, Florham Park on Friday, October 10th from 4-7pm. The memorial service will be held at Calvary Presbyterian Church in Florham Park on Saturday, October 11th at 10am.
