Ellen M. Williams / April 27, 1953 – August 31, 2025

Ellen M. Williams (Schaefer), passed away peacefully on August 31, 2025, at her home in Hillside, NJ.

Born to Charles and Mary Schaefer, Ellen grew up in East Hanover NJ, where she developed the values of strength, resilience, and devotion that defined her throughout her life. Ellen had a way of always telling it how it is, never holding anything back, and often doing so with humor that could light up a room.  She was a woman of perseverance and determination, and always putting the needs of others before her own.

Beloved wife of Philip A. Cardaci. Devoted mother of Megan Luberto and her husband Michael. Proud and adoring grandmother of Benjamin Luberto. Dear sister of James Schaefer and his wife Linda. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, in-laws, and dear friends.

Ellen was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Mary Schaefer, and her brother, Clifford Schaefer.

She will be remembered most for her unwavering love of her family, her bold spirit, and the joy she brought into the lives of all who knew her. Ellen had a lifelong love for animals, especially her dogs, who were always by her side and brought her endless comfort and companionship. Her legacy of compassion and strength will continue to live on in those she leaves behind.

A memorial visitation will be held at the Leonardis Memorial Home, Inc., 210 Ridgedale Avenue, Florham Park on Saturday, September 6th from 12-2pm.  Family and friends are invited to attend and share memories of Ellen — a woman whose wit, warmth, and fierce love will be deeply missed.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ellen’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.  Donate today to give them tomorrow.
