Edmond J. Dowling

Edmond “Eddie”  Dowling, 88, of East Hanover, NJ, formerly of Dublin, Ireland, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his loving family on January 22, 2025. From his early days at Rod’s Ranch House to Lewellyn Farms to the Turtle Brook Inn, Eddie’s charisma, humility and Irish wit were his defining characteristics and will be missed most by those who knew him.

He was a cherished husband to his late wife, Mairead, with whom he shared over 60 years of marriage. Together, they built a home filled with love, laughter, and countless memories. Eddie was a devoted father to Edmond Dowling, his wife Aine, David Dowling, his wife Philomena, Brian Dowling, his wife Sally, Stephan Dowling, Tara Lockwood, her husband William, Rhonda Cremin, Aidan Dowling and his wife Trisha; proud grandfather of 19 grandchildren and great-grandfather of 8 great-grandchildren; dear brother-in-law of Eileen Bracken and her husband Brendan.  Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and dear friends. A true gentleman, he carried with him traditional Irish practices and values while embracing the opportunities of his new life in America. Eddie worked tirelessly to provide for his family, finding joy not only in his work but also in the relationships he built along the way. One of Eddie’s greatest passions in life was golf, and he could frequently be found at the Knoll Golf Club, wagering bets and sharing pints with many of his closest friends.

Edmond is predeceased by his father Edmond Dowling, mother Mary Dowling nee Power, his beloved wife Mairead, their infant daughter Eileen Dowling, and son-in -law Michael Cremin

Visitation at the Leonardis Memorial Home, Inc., 210 Ridgedale Avenue, Florham Park on Monday, January 27th, from 4-7pm.  Funeral on Tuesday, January 28th, assembling at the funeral home at 10:15am, followed by the funeral mass at St. Rose of Lima Church in E. Hanover at 11:15am.  Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
