Dr. Domenic Falcone, 91, of Montville, NJ, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2022.
Born in Orange, NJ, Dr. Falcone was a graduate of Seton Hall University in West Orange, NJ where he earned a BA degree in International Languages. He was a Veteran of the Korean War and served in the Army Medical Corp. Domenic married Barbara Carolla on August 25, 1956. He subsequently went on to study medicine at the University of Rome and University of Bologna, Italy, where he was awarded his medical degree. He completed an internship at St. Joseph's Hospital in Paterson, NJ and went on to complete a residency in surgery at the Newark City Hospital, Newark, NJ. Dr. Falcone then went on to specialize in Urology completing a residency at the New Jersey College of Medicine and Dentistry. He was a senior partner in the Montclair Urological Group from 1970 until his retirement in 2000. Dr. Falcone was an attending Urological surgeon at the Mountainside Hospital from 1969-2000. At that time, he performed groundbreaking state of the art surgical procedures for prostate cancer utilizing radium seed implants. He was director of Urology at The Stone Center of NJ where he used pioneering noninvasive technology for the destruction of kidney stones. He was also a Clinical Instructor in Urological surgery at the New Jersey College of Medicine and Dentistry. Additionally, he served on the medical staff at Montclair Community and Clara Maas Hospitals as well as an attending Urologist at St. Vincent's Hospital where he was President of the Medical Staff in 1980 and 1981.
Dr. Falcone was known to his colleagues, residents, nurses and patients as a compassionate and caring surgeon. He and his family were former residents of North Caldwell and Essex Fells, NJ.
Devoted father of Ann Clapham, her husband Richard, Dr. Joseph Falcone and his wife Amy. Cherished grandfather of Dr. Andrew Clapham, his wife Helen, Rebecca Clapham, Colin Clapham, Christopher Falcone, Eric Falcone, and Peter Falcone. Loving Uncle of Dr. Linda Saraceno, her husband Joseph, Michael Matthews (predeceased), Kathleen Schmidt, her husband David, Andrea Alrefaai, her husband Ayman, Stan Kaltnecker, Greg Kaltnecker, his wife Dawn, Stephanie Smith, and her husband Tom. Also survived by his sisters-in-law Beverly Kaltnecker, her husband Stan, Josephine Falcone, and his brother-in-law Dr. Anthony Carolla, many great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Domenic was predeceased by his wife Barbara Falcone, his parents Philip & Lucy Falcone, his siblings Mary, Anna, Frank and Antoinette, and his brother-in-law William Matthews, his father & mother-in-law William & Jean Carolla.
The funeral mass will be held at Notre Dame Church in North Caldwell on Wednesday at 11am, followed by the entombment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.
